Here is a chart I found on how major economic indicators look compared to the depression of 1929. These graphs show that we still have along way to the bottom if we are going to hit the numbers we did during those 4 years in the from 1929-1933. This slight uptick in consumer prices on the third graph hopefully shows that deflationary periods have stabilized, now lets just hope that all this money that they (the FED) printed to stimulate the economy can be reigned in before the inflationary period take hold when this is all over.

Unions have been around for a while now, they where the predecessor to many government agencies like OSHA, NIOSH, and the EPA. The unions provided a fair wage while promoting safety back when there was no government agencies overseeing safety. Before unions the large corporations in the early 1900’s would often provide little or no safety to their workers while the “big cheeses” of these corporations got richer. Unions provided a voice for many of these underpaid workers who worked in very unsafe environments that often sacrificed safety for profits.

Will it suck us all into the abyss and set us back to the stone age when we where trading with seashells and fish. Hopefully NOT! with the new stimulus package signed into law the 3/4 of a trillion dollar spending bill will start flowing into the area’s it needs to be so that at least it slows the job loses and helps lead the economy to a healthy recovery.

GM also announced it was laying off 47,000 employees of its global work force to combat its slowing sales numbers.
